I should've known better than to make travel arrangements based on spoken word only. I should've been prepared for there to be hidden details that we were unaware of since this is our first time dealing with Christmas Exodus with the army.
My soldier told me the dates for Christmas Exodus. Not wanting to waste a single dollar since flights were going to be quite pricey, I reserved our tickets. Smart move, right? I figured he could leave post the day before, spend a night in a hotel near the airport, and catch his early morning flight no problem.
Well, he informs me today that he will not be able to leave until the afternoon of the first day of exodus. Meaning we need to change his flights with an airline that has already gone back on their word. I am not expecting them to be understanding of the situation so we will need to pay the change fee and any difference in ticketing. Big sigh.
It's just money, right? I mean, we have all the time in the world to make more money. Seeing family is the important part, right? Yeah, I guess so. It will be amazing to spend two weeks with him for Christmas. Plus we get to see all of our family on his side and mine. I am grateful for this break regardless of the headaches associated with it.
Deep breath. Praying the airline is understanding. Good night's sleep- and we'll deal with it tomorrow.
Moral of the story, don't make travel plans unless you have something in writing.
