This is parenthood:
Baby has been napping for a little over 2 hours. Who knows how much longer he'll last? (my guess, not too much longer) Not only this, he has been napping in his CRIB on his OWN for a little over 2 hours. This is unheard of for my baby! Maybe tonight will be another magical night of sleeping in his crib and not snuggled up next to Mommy.
My baby normally does not take long naps. I hardly know what to do with myself right now! Seriously, I have packed up another box of our belongings in preparation for our upcoming move. I have straightened up and organized his toys, leaving out only his favorites that he'll have to make due with until we move. I have loaded and started the dishwasher. I have organized my old bills that were in a bin and shredded them all (since I have electronic accounts with all the companies anyways). I have done some reading, and I will probably do some more once this post is written.
But seriously, my baby normally only take 20 minutes naps. This feels like an eternity! I may or may not have gone in and checked that he was breathing!
Granted, baby didn't take a morning nap at all. Yup, he lasted all the way until around 4 pm before he decided it was naptime. I don't know what he was thinking. Probably something along the lines of, "Momma's letting me roam free! (I had cleared the downstairs area so he could roam while I packed) Look, different toys! Oh, a secret passageway (the space between the wall and the couch)! Papa's bookshelf! Aw man, Momma's taking me away from the bookshelf! DVDs to throw on the floor! Momma's packing clothes? time to unpack them all!" Yeah... something like that. Then two of his cousins arrived so he was entertained by them for awhile. So he should be good and tired. Is he going to transition to one nap a day? Do I really want that? That will free up the morning for activities and play dates (of which I hope there are many when we move).
So... this is parenthood. Not knowing how to occupy my time when my baby sleeps longer than usual.
