45 Weeks

Baby is 45 Weeks old! Oh my, that means I only have 7 weeks until his birthday!

Baby has been back to normal this week after his bout of flu last week. It is no fun being a momma to a sick baby. It made me sad to see him feeling so icky and I was so worried that he would need to go to the doctor. So thankful it was just a brief bug.

This week Jack has been getting much better about sleeping for longer stretches and staying in his crib. He generally has a 6 hour stretch during the night now. When I first lay him down he may wake up once or twice every hour, but I can get him back to sleep pretty much right away. We have kept to his bedtime routine of a late dinner, bath, devotions/ story, nurse, bed. I think that really has helped. He also loves sleeping with his pillow. It does worry me a little leaving him in his crib with a pillow, but he moves his head if he's uncomfortable. He has been going to sleep around 8:30 pm and wake up for the day between 7:30-9 on average. He will wake up 1-3 times during the first two hours and then wake up once or twice in the early morning. Sometimes he wants to nurse, sometimes he just wants to snuggle. I have been getting better about getting him back to sleep and putting him in his crib, but so far every morning this week I have woken up and he is sleeping with me- no recollection how he got there. So we're making progress!

We unsnapped the last leg opening snaps on his diapers this week! It gives his thunder thighs a little more space but doesn't seem to leak. He continues to have little turds as opposed to soupy poops. Much nicer to change diapers, but much smellier! It is nice not to have to spray off all his poopy diapers though. Now he does the whole stop, squat, grunt, poop, smile bit. It's pretty funny. He does not like pooping. A lot of times he'll randomly start crying and then get all red and grunt and then cry afterwards until I change him. Hopefully this bodes well for potty training someday.

Jack eats baby food twice a day and has some fruits and grains with it. Throughout the day he has snacks pretty much whenever he wants, generally he eats every two hours in some form. He nurses in the morning and before bed and maybe once or twice a day. I've noticed him thickening up again, which I think is good since he was in the 30% for weight at his 9 month. He loves cheese, ice cream (anybody surprised, anybody?), and his favorite baby food is mango dessert.

He is a very, very active boy. Loves to roam free and crawl anywhere and everywhere. He loves to play with doorstops. If I try to put away his stacking cups he will stop playing with whatever toy he has and scatter the cups and then go back to what he was doing. He also loves his Little People. We still use the jumperoo often, but when he jumps the whole things moves! I'm a little worried he may tip it over when he gets super excited, but so far we're ok. He loves to read books and is learning not to grab and crinkle the pages. We still primarily read board books so he can turn the pages himself. He is so perceptive about cause and effect- he tries to open cupboards and drawers, loves opening and closing his toys with hinges, sits and "reads" books himself and turns the pages.

He has been sucking/chewing on his thumb a lot this week. He never really cared for pacis and never really sucked his thumb. He would take a paci and suck his thumb every once in awhile, but it was never a habit. I don't know if he's beginning to start a habit or if he's just getting more teeth. He doesn't seem to be more fussy or having a fever from teething, which is nice.

When Grammy and Jack play Grammy says, "How big is Jackson... SO BIG!" and raises her hands above her head. Jack started raising his hands too! So adorable. He waves hi and bye and has beginning saying both of those too- not super clearly, but Grammy, Papa, and I can tell. He claps all the time. He loves playing the piano and dances whenever he hears music (even just on commercials). If I say "jump jump" or "dance" he'll begin doing it. He gives high fives when you put out your hand and say "five". Of course, just like any baby, he does not do this every single time. When he does not want to do something he will not do it. Stubborn baby. Wonder who he gets that from?

Pictures!

Stink eye. He's been doing this more and more!

He had a particularly crazy hair day. I liked it! It was like a high pompadour! His hair has been sticking every which way most morning since he tosses and turns a lot in his sleep. Again, I wonder who he gets that from?

I almost used this for his weekly picture but it was from earlier in the week and I just couldn't do it. But seriously, how adorable is this kid?

Stink eye again.

Playing with cousin Calvin. Loving the mega bloks.

How big is Jackson... SO BIG!

So... he's pooping! Scrunched face and squatting his little legs. You can't really tell, but both legs are up in the air.

Momma bought some large baskets to use as end tables in our future living room. New toy for baby?

So much fun in every day things.

So excited that it's STILL snowing. It's snowed every day for the past little while. And he loves it!

His favorite cups.

45 Weeks picture.

Dinner with Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa.

Grma B. loved sitting with Jackson.

So glad we get to spend time with them while we're home.

See his little foot?

Jack fussed for the last few bites of green beans. I have him some apple. He gave me stink eye.

His snack of cheese... all over the floor.

Came downstairs and found him like this. Decisions decisions: move his arm and risk him waking up... or leave it and risk it falling asleep and him then waking up.

Buns in the air. Normally he wears footy pajamas, but they were all dirty and Momma was a bit lazy with the wash.

Literally I took the first picture to text to DaDa... and when I was done texting I looked up and he was out! He falls asleep in his high chair at least once a week! That day he fell asleep twice!

Baby still ends up in Momma's bed for at least two hours at night! He likes to sleep sideways now.

Two more weeks until we go down to see DaDa!
