Full Term Means Get Ready!!!

Yesterday was the 37 week mark. Baby is full term, which means anytime in the next five weeks Daniel will be making his appearance! Mumma prefers ASAP, but I'm honestly not feeling that crabby, sore, terrible like a lot of women at the end of pregnancy. I am just so ready to meet our little man!

Being full term to me means that everything has to be ready for baby to arrive. The nursery is done. Daniel's hospital bag has been packed and waiting for over a month. Jackson's sitter (and two back up sitters) are on stand by. Fridge, freezer, and cupboards are mostly stocked. Tomorrow Jackson and I plan to go to the store for some extra snacks for him so there are plenty of options for his sitter to give him as he maybe fussy since we'll be away. Jackson's schedule and some helpful hints for his nap time, bedtime, and if he's fussy are all written out and ready.

Now for the hospital bag. This had been mostly packed for a couple weeks, but I added the last few items now that we're a-go for birth!

So, working from left to right:

*snacks for Mumma and Daddy in the hospital.
*Mumma's comfy shoes. I'll wear then to the hospital and then back home.
*checkbook and wallet. Checkbook because when we had Jackson you could write a check and mail off for your birth certificate right in the hospital. No cash or credit card payments though. I don't think that's how we obtain the both certificate here, but I thought it a good item to bring just in case!
*lion rattle toy for Daniel- actually going in his hospital bag, but I already wrote that post!
*my pregnancy journal. Hopefully I have some down time before he is born (post epidural- planning to get epidural but hopefully no other meds) to write some last thoughts and then our birth story and my first thoughts on Daniel.
*camera, camera case, camera battery charger, phone charger.
*going home outfit: maternity jeans, tank top undershirt, loose blue patterned shirt (blue because we're having a boy and it will match nicely with Daniel's outfit), nursing bra, and white cardigan.
*depends silhouettes- oh my! A recovering mother's best friend! I recommend these to every expectant mother! I am petite so the mesh undies the hospital provides aren't comfortable and don't stay on very well. These are comfortable, not that noticeable under regular clothes (last birth I wore them even with regular, non-maternity jeans!), keep in all the "mess", and (again) are comfortable! It's all about comfort!
*toiletry bag- details below.
*makeup bag- I don't plan on getting majorly made up, but some basic coverage just makes a new Mommy feel pretty.
*pjs for hospital stay- we'll be in the hospital at least one night (hopefully just one non night if all goes well) so some comfy, cute pjs are a must! Cute grey and purple bottoms, purple top that will accommodate nursing, purple robe.
*old flips for shower shoes. Always remember shower shoes!
*outfit for Matt- his tshirt is the only thing that stays in my regular bag. The jeans, underwear, socks, and shoes are in a plastic bag I'll throw in of needed. He'll be in the field for a couple nights this week so in case he has to come straight to the hospital all dirty, we figured he would need a full change of clothes. Hopefully the hospital will let him shower there. He'll just use my shower stuff if he needs.
*boppy pillow- since I am petite, the boppy works great for nursing or just holding baby! I got this cover for the boppy with Jackson and I still love it!

Before I had Jackson I worked on the recruitment office for Liberty University Online. That meant a lot of travel so I have a lot of travel sized items that are perfect for when we travel as a family or situations like this. So in my toiletry bag:

*travel size body wash (dove), shampoo, conditioner (both nexxus). These I bought as they are my favorite brands, but I also keep the free samples from hotels to put in the guest bathroom for visitors.
*travel size contact solution (in case I need to rewet my contacts) and deodorant
*glasses and dailies contacts so I can just toss them when I'm done for the day.
*travel sizes of my face wash, treatment, and lotion by Murad.
*toothbrush and toothpaste
*hair brush
*neutrogena makeup removing wipes
*q tips- I can't stand having water in my ears
*lanolin cream
*warm vanilla lotion
*breast pads
*variety of hair ties- you can never have too many! Thick bands, thin bands, mini rubber bands as that's what I've been mainly using lately with my shorter hair.

And it all fits in my pretty Medallion print Vera Bradley toiletry bag. My hospital bag is a Vera Satchel in the same print. This weekend bag has served me well all through college and early marriage. I love the print and don't think I'll be replacing either bag any time soon.

So my bags are all packed and sitting I the crib ready to be grabbed. The car seat is installed. Pre registration with the hospital is complete. Matt is on standby whenever he's at work. Baby sitters are on call. Sigh.

Any day now, Daniel! We're ready for you! I can hardly wait, baby boy!
