Today, Jack and I made our first trip to Target with some friends. Two hours of goodness of just browsing. I didn't have anything I needed, but of course, left with some goodies. I had bought Jack some twistable crayons before so if he bites it he doesn't ruin the entire crayon. When I saw this Crayola tin, I knew we needed it. Perfect for holding our art supplies. I also bought this little monster pencil (or crayon) case for traveling. Since we're flying to MI in three weeks I figured crayons would be good for plane ride entertainment. Jack has a new blue notebook to color in also, just grid paper because we like it! I also bought this calendar for my fridge. It is perfect! I have been wanting a dry erase calendar for the fridge. All the ones I found before didn't have magnets on the back. This one is really thin, has places for "mine" and "their" schedules, and a place for the menu for the day! Awesomeness! Bonus? It's grey! I'm going through a major grey phase right now. See the little magnetic dry erase marker on the side? Yup, Target is awesome!
So, how this trip almost became disastrous. I was checking out and noticed my keys weren't in the pocket I normally keep them in. I scan the inside of the diaper bag and don't see them. I begin frantically taking everything out of the diaper bag and dumping it into my cart. No keys. I pay and leave Jack and my cart with my friends while I run out to the car to see if the keys are there. Nope. I even checked again a little later. The car was locked and my car has this nifty feature that it won't lock if any of the doors are open. So I have to be outside the car with my keys, so I can't lock them inside the car. I used to think this was annoying, but now I am thankful! Came back inside- had them announce it over the speaker system, had a friend go look in the cart corrals outside in case they were in the first cart I used (switched because the kid seats don't have steering wheels and it just makes the carts too long without two actual kids), paced anxiously, retraced my steps... And someone found them and brought them to the customer service desk! Such relief! So thankful. Seriously praising Jesus. I thought that worst case, I buy some diapers for Jack and we chill at the Starbucks in the Target until Matt got off work, but that would not have been preferable. I have learned my lesson, clip my keys to the diaper bag! I don't know how they fell out of the cart. The holes in the cart aren't large enough for my keys to fall through and my diaper bag was inside the main section of the cart our entire trip. Jack was in the front so he didn't throw them out or anything. Oh well, we have them! We got home! Phew!
When we for home Jack did some coloring (when we're home he rarely wears pants. It's too hot, I don't like messing with them during changes, and his diapers are just too cute!). He made a really nice picture (no even sarcastic, I'm so proud of it!) and when I put the crayons away he cried. Actual tears crying! Poor guy. I let him carry some around for awhile but then put them away again- cant have multi colored couch cushions!
So thank you, Lord, for bringing Target to Lawton. Thank you, Lord, for helping me find my keys.
