First Christmas

I love celebrating Jackson's Firsts. His first Christmas was so much fun! I hope that I am able to enjoy his siblings' Firsts just as much as his. For now though, I am just thoroughly enjoying all my time with Jack and everything that comes with it!

We celebrated Christmas Day in California with his Grammie and GrandPops Iveson, Uncle Mark, and  Daddy. It was so nice to be with Daddy's side of the family since they live on the opposite side of the country. Christmas morning we woke up, opened presents, and had a delicious breakfast.

I let Jack open a lot of his own presents. Of course, I helped a little, but I wanted him to have fun ripping up the paper- even if it made a bigger mess and took longer. The hardest part, grabbing every piece he ripped off before it made it into his mouth!

Jack got a musical book from Grammie and GrandPops! He loves the lights on the inchworm and the music that plays with each page turn. Each page is thick plastic- perfect for self play.

Jack got Harold and the Purple Crayon from his Uncle Mark. Such a classic! I hope Jack has an imagination like Harold when he grows up!

Josh, Jamie, and Waverly got Matt and I a mug that had pictures from Matt's BCT graduation all around it. Such a unique gift and I love it! Lots of coffee, tea, and hot apple cider will be drunk in this.

The best part about holidays with family? Snuggles!

Jack received a shark pillow pet from Waverly! So snuggly. He loved it!

I chose a simple long johns outfit for Jack's first Christmas. While I am actually a fan of "Baby's First..." outfits... I figured something a little more classic was in order for Christmas. Plus, comfy for Jack! It came with a reindeer hat (unfortunately, you can't see the antlers in the pictures) and reindeer booties (which didn't stay on his feet).

Uncle Mark and Jack with his present.

What is Christmas Day without some lounging and sports watching? The boys enjoyed some quality time in front of the TV.

Grammie and Jack enjoying his present. He loved playing with his Grammie and GrandPops. He was quite taken with them from the start of our trip. I was so thankful for that as sometimes he just wants to be clingy to Momma.

My little Christmas joy!

When we returned to Michigan, Jack was able to open his presents from Momma's side of the family and his presents from Momma and DaDa. I was so excited for him to get his presents.

Jack loved ripping more paper and, of course, tasting each piece!

Scout puppy! I wasn't planning on getting him a Scout, but my other friends who have older boys say their sons just love their Scout. He is the stuffed friend of choice to go along pretty much anywhere with their little buddy. So I figured it was worth trying out.

As everyone always says, just get the kid a box! While Jack did like playing in the box of one of his presents, he liked playing with his new toys more. So I think we can call Christmas a success!

Jack's big toy from Momma and DaDa. I was so excited for him to play with his new walker. I bought the Imaginarium one because it had so many sensory learning toys attached. The design is easier for him to practice walking with too. It doesn't move as quickly as some of the other brands.

Our little family in front of the Christmas tree. So blessed to be able to spend the holiday with DaDa.

Grammy bought a Peek-a-boo bear that Jack loved!

The bear talks and holds up the blankie and pulls it back down. Jack loves Peek-a-boo so this is a great toy for him.

See what I mean about the sensory toys on the walker? Some of the extra pieces are a little small for Jack yet, but he has fun with the flaps on the bottom, the xylophone, and all the other knobs that turn every which way.

Of course, there's a fun mallet to play with too! He loves chewing on mallets or hammers and then banging it on anything nearby.

Of course, we read Jack the Christmas Story several times and played with his Little People nativity to teach him the real meaning of Christmas. Having a child of my own makes me further appreciate the birth of Jesus. I hope that as Jack grows he develops an understanding and love for Jesus and comes to know Him as his Savior.
