We were so blessed that Daddy was able to get Thanksgiving leave. We booked a last minute ticket for him to come home to Michigan. What a nice break- and one of my favorite parts, holding hands! Since he was on leave we were able to hold hands whenever we wanted. This whole PDA-while-in-uniform deal is diff.i.cult.
Daddy arrived home Thursday morning and returned to Fort Benning Sunday morning. It was a such a relaxing weekend. We soaked up every minute we had with Daddy. We loved celebrating Jack's first Thanksgiving together as a family.
Yeah, we know. We got the looks! (She said so modestly)
Daddy and Jack practiced push ups. Daddy has to be ready for PT when he returns to OCS and Jackson needs to build up that upper body strength. I mean, push ups are part of every babies day-to-day, right?
Jackson loved playing with his Daddy. Daddy makes lots of funny faces and gives lots of good hugs. He can carry Jack longer than Mommy too. He's just a tad bit stronger than Mommy.
I loved seeing my men together. Jack would constantly crawl over to Daddy for more snuggles. Melt. my. heart.
I let Daddy feed the baby. It was a little messy. They both need some practice. Daddy fed part of the jar to Jackson and let Mommy finish it up. Jack would open his mouth ready for another spoonful and Daddy wasn't ready yet. So he let Mommy feed the baby at a pace that was more to his liking.
Friday evening we had dinner at Great-Grandpa and Great- Grandma Iveson's house with Great-Aunt Sue. Jack loved their doggie, Toto. He would shake his little fists when Toto would run around. Jack crawled towards Toto, but Toto was too fast. When Toto lay down Jack would pet him.
Jack started giggling when Toto growled while playing tug-o-war with Great-Grandpa. Toto began jumping back and forth an Jack just giggled more! We all laughed so hard at Jack and this went on for several minutes. There is nothing better than a giggling baby!
Toto is such a good dog. I wasn't even worried he would bite Jack.
Everyone loved Jack, like always. He is such a happy little guy and he loves people. It was so nice to see family.
We bummed around the house on Saturday. Daddy loved taking naps with Jack. Daddy and Jack used to take lots of naps together before Daddy left. Daddy says there's no better feeling than the dead weight of a content, sleeping baby on your chest.
We ordered thin crust pizza for Daddy because he really wanted it. We got a couple pizzas to satisfy everyone's tastes... and that left Daddy with a large all to himself! Since he was going home early the next morning he decided to eat it all! He did it and didn't even feel overly stuffed afterwards. That's my man: no wasting food!
This is our last night together for awhile. Baby was a little fussy (teething) so I didn't even try putting him in his crib. Daddy went to bed first since he had an early flight. When Mommy got ready for bed she snuggled Jack up next to Daddy. My guys are too stinking cute. I am so blessed.
We have so much to be thankful for. Most of all, we are thankful to be together.
