Yes, I am a bit behind. I definitely don't want to forget what Jackson has been up to lately, though! These pictures aren't in chronological order, but physically he hasn't changed too much.
Jackson continues to be our sweet, snuggly little buddy. He is definitely a Mumma's boy, but he gets so excited when Daddy gets home from work! He runs to the door and yells, "Di Di Di Di!". He gives hugs and kisses, high fives and fist bumps. He is getting more friendly when people say hello to him when we are out, but he isn't as smiley to strangers as when he was a little baby- but I'm not complaining. Never too early to start learning about being cautious around strangers.
Jackson loves having his own playroom at our new house in Clarksville, TN. It is the largest room in the house and he loves being able to make messes. He plays well by himself most of the time and Mumma gets to sit in her new comfy chairs and read. Jackson still loves his Melissa and Doug stacking toys (the ones that are circles, octogons, and squares), loves musical toys, and building with legos. Daddy and he play hide-and-go-seek by running up and downstairs and Daddy "hides" behind furniture for Jack to try to find him. Jack dances in place when he finds Daddy and giggles away. Jack still loves to read books and can point out all the animals on the last page of Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Panda Bear, Panda Bear- even though we mix them up when we ask him where the ____ is. Such a smart little cookie.
Jack still doesn't talk a lot. He babbles all the time, but doesn't use many correct words. He says "no" when he does not want something and "sssss" while signing please. He has begun signing "more" again. He can say "uh" (up), "dow" (down), "dog", "ow" (cow), "moo", and "ni-night". He learned "cow" by playing peekaboo barn on Mumma's phone. He hasn't said the other animal names yet, but started saying "cow" all on his own. It's a drawn out "ooooooooow".
Jack went through a stage where he was always running around on his tip toes. He has very solid calves (and his ab muscles are very strong too). Daddy is very proud Jack has inherited his "physique" (har har). Jack loves to run around the house or outside in our large fenced in back yard. It will be so much fun in the summer when we can get a sandbox and pool out there for him to play in.
Jack plays a lot with Mumma's phone. His favorite movie used to be Finding Nemo, then he moved on to Monster's Inc. for awhile. When we saw Monsters things at the store he would always point at them. We watched Monster's University and the scare simulator scared him so he wasn't as interested in Monster's. Inc. anymore. He is just now (about a month later) watching it again. His favorite movie is currently Toy Story 3. He loves playing Angry Birds, but pulls the birds in the wrong direction. He always plays roacher where you squash the bugs scurrying across the page. His favorite game is called Shapes. It has a few different games that involve shapes. He has learned to match shapes and to pick out the correct shape when he hears the name for triangles, crescents, squares, circles, rectangles, ovals, stars, and octagons.
Jack continues to be a good eater, but he is more picky about when he wants certain foods. His favorite foods are bananas and grapes. He generally eats the same food we eat, but if it's really messy or will be difficult for him to eat I give him lunch meat, cheese, and some fruit. He knows where we keep different foods and when he wants something he'll go to that cupboard etc. in the kitchen. In the fridge he will look at all the options and then point to what he wants. Once he has chosen if I think he's pointing to a different food and grab that he gets upset until I get out the correct food.
The past couple weeks Jack has been "furrowing" his brow like when Daddy is skeptical of something. We'll make that face at Jack and he'll make it back and then start laughing. What a silly baby!
Jack has been sleeping on his crib mattress on the floor since we moved. He still wakes up at night but can usually be snuggled back to sleep. Hopefully after Christmas we can get him a twin bed. The week before Thanksgiving we finally weaned him. We started with snuggling for nap instead of nursing. Two days later at bedtime I told him that big boys don't need to nurse. He tugged on my shirt but then settled down. He has only asked to nurse a couple times since then, but when I remind him that he's a big boy he drinks from his sippy cups. It makes me very sad and I miss nursing him. Thankfully, new baby is on the way (that's right!) so only a few more months and I'll have that bond again. It makes me sad that I'll never be able to nurse Jackson again though.
At Jack's 18 Month Well Child appointment he weighed 23 lbs. and 10 oz. (21%) and was 32 in. long (42%). He has seemed to be growing taller, but his little buddha belly is still pretty trim for a toddler. He is very healthy though, so we're not worried. I'm certainly not complaining that he isn't heavier! I think he's probably around 25 lbs. now at 20 months.
I'll post brief descriptions of the pictures and hopefully do monthly updates for the next couple months and then when he's 2 maybe I'll move to quarterly updates. He is still our little boogey and we are so blessed by him every day.
Jackson loves buckles.
Places Jackson thinks he can fit... but can't. Well, he can fit, but he can't get back out.
Jackson loves to color!
Teaching him how to properly hold a handgun. Can't start gun safety too soon. No, we don't ever have them loaded in the house. Ammunition is up high out of reach. He does know how to hold a gun and how to put a magazine in, though.
We visited the Oklahoma City Memorial.
Jack doesn't chew on his books anymore, but the damage is done.
Not the best picture, but shows off the shirt the best. Big Brother! New baby expected April 27, 2014.
In August we went to Michigan for Grandma Wilhelm's (Matt's mom's mom) memorial service. We spent some time at Lake Michigan. The cousins (Jackson and Waverly) loved the sand.
In Michigan. Waverly, Aunt Jamie, Grammie, Mumma, and Jack.
Playing in the dirt at Aunt Sue's house.
In Michigan, playing with Harley Burton.
In Michigan, Olga's Kitchen (yum) with cousin Noah.
With cousins Alivia and Brooklyn, watching a movie on Mumma's phone.
Jack has always flown well and our trip to Michigan was no exception. On the way home he grabbed his ears while he was sleeping when they must have popped. Poor buddy, but still no crying.
Mumma got a flat tire (actually Daddy borrowed Mumma's car and got a flat tire) so we had to go get a new one. Jack loves running around.
He was always so happy when he was nursing. I love his grins.
Found a purple pen. Colored on the door.
Jack knows he's not allowed to play with Daddy's game controllers. He grabbed one and "hid" in the basket.
Loving our huge back yard!
Jack has taken to sleeping like Daddy, with a pillow over his head! It makes me nervous, but he wakes up if I move it.
Discovered how much fun playing with kitchen tools can be! Spaceman Spiff!
Not the most attractive picture, but we call this the inverted plank. Jack loves to prop himself up in different ways between the couch and coffee table.
Took a picture to send to Waverly on her birthday. I just love it.
Carving pumpkins. Jack wasn't impressed.
Loves his bananas.
First frosty!
He was being naughty. When I asked what he was doing he leaned way back so I "couldn't see him".
Our little lion. He had a cold on Halloween so we didn't go out, but we still dressed up!
Daylight savings throws us all off. He fell asleep in his highchair a couple times that week.
I just love his smile. And this was post haircut when I went the shortest yet. He looks like a little boy, not a little baby!
Made a fist inside the cup. Wouldn't let go. Couldn't get his hand out.
His current bed setup. He's getting used to it.
I am so blessed to be his Mumma. I love spending my days with him. He is growing up way too quickly!
