BOY!!!!!!
I am pleased to announce that Daniel Watson Iveson will be joining our family next spring!
I was honestly kind of surprised when we were at the ultrasound today and we saw his little thingie ding. While I had a "hunch" he was a boy, I had a "hunch" Jackson was a girl! I am glad our boys will be close in age and, of course, I am excited for that mother/son bond to share with another!
Daniel is my favorite Biblical character. He had such strong faith and such wisdom. And yes, I do plan on getting our Daniel a little lion! Watson is my Grandpa Bonnell's middle name. My Grandpa Bonnell is one of my favorite people in this world. I have always loved spending time with him and attribute my love for reading to his reading to me as a little girl. I remember when he would come to visit I would run up to him with a book in hand, ready for him to read to me! I am thankful for this opportunity to honor him with a namesake.
The technician showed us the umbilical cord and then showed us the "not umbilical cord", as she put it. Daniel was very wiggly (I had drank tea right before to hopefully get him moving) so she had a hard time getting a clear shot for us, but then he cooperated! No doubt about it, all boy!
He wasn't a spastic mover at all, he would wiggle his little legs but mostly had them crossed. He would move his hand in and out of his mouth, sucking on his fingers. We got to see his face quite a bit and I think he'll look a lot like Jackson. He definitely has my nose (no surprise there) and his eyes look a lot like Jackson's (and a lot like his Daddy's IMO).
Here is a shot of Daniel's crossed legs. He kept crossing them over each other so it was hard to get a clear shot of his feet. I can see his feet in this picture because I remember watching him move them. I cannot wait to kiss those piggies!
Since our families are in MI, CA, and SC it was hard to do a cute gender announcement. So we just texted them. We then posted the first picture on Facebook to share with other family and friends. So many love his name. I hope people don't think we're naming him Watson due to any of the current Sherlock Holmes franchises. While Matt and I do like the Sherlock Holmes books, the RDJ movies, and I like Elementary; we don't name our children after popular icons (although I fought for Finnick because I just love that name!).
A friend of mine here watched Jack and she has a 4 month old boy. She had received a bag of clothes that were mostly too small for her son. She gave them to me and I love most of them! We have a lot of Jackson's baby clothes too so Daniel will be all set!
I spent the afternoon looking online at bedding and ordered a crib sheet and changing pad cover for Daniel and then Jackson's toddler bedding (for his twin bed we plan to get). It is so exciting to be able to plan and decorate for this new little guy! When we first had Jackson I thought I wanted a boy next. There is such a bond between Mommy and Son! Matt is a little sad he won't have his Daddy's little princess yet, but I'll be sure to share Daniel with him... sometimes! Naw, I don't think that will be a problem because we want to be sure not to spend more time with Daniel than with Jackson. They will both need our attention and love, which we'll be happy to give.
We love you so much, Daniel Watson!
