No Internet/ Naptime

I really need to do the dishes while little mister is sleeping so he doesn't try to "help". Why is it that kids are automatically drawn to the knives in the dishwasher? Why not the harmless spoons? I even put the knives in the most awkward place for him to reach, yet still he tries!

But... I've been online requesting updated addresses from my friends who have moved this year in preparation for Christmas cards. Stalking a few people on facebook or their blogs. Checking up on Christmas gifts I've ordered and their shipping status. Even though I ordered early, it still is nerve wrecking when they haven't shipped and it's been a week... And now, of course, blogging. I have rediscovered my love for casual writing, which is good seeing the list I have to update.

However, our wireless router died. Boo. It is less than a year old, a Belkin, and was fairly expensive since we got one that would meet our many internet streaming needs. Of course, with the move I don't still have the box or receipt. I've learned my lesson this time. Tomorrow I'll most likely buy a new one and be able to write to my heart's content on my own computer with pictures included. But for now I am on my husband's computer.

For whatever reason, my phone data also has been acting up. Just the past few days. Maybe the apple update? A lot of people used to have problems after an update... but I never did. Hopefully when I get a new router it will help. Though, that shouldn't affect my data at all. I checked that everything was turned on and that Jack didn't flip a switch to magically take away my data options.

As annoying as it is, not having the internet on my phone is freeing. I had been able to do so much more. I didn't realize how much time it takes to glance at facebook or instagram or my email. I do this multiple times a day, but apparently it hinders me more than I knew. I will make a much more conscious effort not to check these pages as frequently once this is sorted out. I was able to go shopping with Jack, rake half the backyard (pictures to come when I get to that post... it is quite the accomplishment), organize my desk area upstairs (again, quite the feat with how much office stuff I have that needs to be kept our of Jack's hands), reorganized Jack's toys in the playroom, moved around some more boxes in the attic, decorated some for Christmas, and made a delicious dinner. Plus Jack and I played in the play room for a good while and I was able to catch up on my reading (re-reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets currently). So much accomplished in one day!

Today has been more relaxed as we didn't leave the house, but we still were able to have some good play time before lunch upstairs. It is so nice we have a large play room. My office is up there also so I'll be able to work on some projects while Jack plays. I still need to make him baby album and then want to work on Iveson family yearbooks from when we were married until the present. Hopefully at least Jackson's baby album and the 2012 and 2013 books will be printed before new baby arrives. I may never catch up then! The years before babies won't take nearly as long as they weren't nearly as interesting. I may even be able to compile them all into one book. Anyways, it is so nice to have that area. This morning I sat and read in my new comfy chairs (my early Christmas present from my husband) while Jack played contentedly by himself. Every once in awhile he came over to gift me a toy he had been playing with. He is the sweetest.

So, going back to life before wifi hasn't been all that bad. It has been refreshing, actually. Now, I want my phone to function the way it is supposed to... especially text messaging since that is my primary form of communication with most of my family and friends. But having to sit down to browse my webpages certainly has given me more time to just spend focusing on my son. Which is a wonderful thing.
