A Typical Day as a Stay At Home Mom

Stories from today:

*Jackson woke up. Even though he started the night in his crib, he ended it in bed next to Momma. He woke up, rolled over to me, smiled when he saw me look at him, and then climbed all over me when he saw my eyes close again. I thought it best to wake up too, so I got up and we started our day.

*Jackson has his first real cold. Up until this point any "colds" he had could be attributed to teething or just the cold weather. This time, his boogers are thick and green. So we're staying home away from play dates and story time at the library. I have learned to always have Boogie Wipes on hand. Just when I think I've cleaned up all his snot, I'll turn around and there will be snot all over his face, hands, shirt, everywhere! Boogie wipes to the rescue! Yes, they really are that much better than kleenex. His first day with the cold I used kleenex and by the end of the day his nose was red. Boogie wipes since then and his nose is none the worse for wear!

*With his cold, I tried Vicks BabyRub for the first time. Ah-mazing. Definitely recommending to all my Mommy friends from here on out. He still has a lot of snotties, but he isn't fussing anymore and he can breathe. I put it on in the morning, before his afternoon nap, and before bed. I sleep much better when he isn't struggling for breath in his sleep.

*Jack's routine when he's full at lunch: throw all the extra food on his tray on the floor. He is cleaning it. When Momma puts a piece of food back on his  tray to see if he's really finished, he proceeds to squish the life out of it. Squish squish squish. Momma takes it away and cleans up the tray and his fingers. He fusses and Momma asks if he's all done. He signs all done and smiles. Now if only I could teach him to sign first before he clears his tray!

*Major poop explosion! I'm still smiling, however, because of Jack's super amazing cloth diapers. During the day we use BumGenius Freetimes. I like these diapers because they are All-in-ones (no stuffing of inserts), have two absorbent layers, and dry overnight when I do laundry. The elastic at the top of the diapers keeps in the poo when he has big ones (unlike disposables that are loose on the top). So when I changed his diaper I was surprised to see just how much poo there was! But, thankfully, his diaper kept it all in and it was an easy cleanup.

*After I changed his diaper I had to wash my hands (obs) and then go to the bathroom myself. Seemed a bit strange, washing my hands before going to the bathroom.

*Baby wakes up from his nap. It's been 40 minutes. This is better than his old 30 minute naps. Momma snuggles with baby to get him to go back to sleep. He sits on her lap staring at the wall in a daze. He notices her looking at him. He smiles up at her before closing his eyes. Heart warmed.

Baby is still sleeping. It's been 1.5 hours. This is great progress with my slight sleeper baby. But that has been my morning and afternoon. That is a typical day here in the Iveson household.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.
