Jackson's First Birthday Party!!!!

On March 26, 2013 my big boy went from being a baby to a toddler! He turned 1 year old! My how that year sped by. I look at pictures from when he was a newborn and I miss my little boogey. But, I love having a little toddler around the house!

His birthday was a full, fun day! DaDa went to work early but was able to come home for the day around 11:00! We are so glad he was able to celebrate this day with us. Originally he was supposed to leave for BCT in January and he would've still been in training. Now we were able to celebrate as a family together! Jackson and I woke up and has his favorite breakfast, scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon bits. He is such a good little eater, that is something I am very thankful for. I put him in his birthday onesie and jeans. While organizing our things I had to store all the clothes he had outgrown. The onesie on the left was the first onesie he wore when we were in the hospital! What a different a year makes!

Jackson and I played all morning while we waited for DaDa to get home. Jack's birthday party theme was Finding Nemo! Jack loves Nemo and we watch it often on my phone. We usually save it for when we're out and he needs a distraction (like when Momma and DaDa are eating at a restaurant) or when he's not quite ready to go to bed. We never watch the whole movie in one sitting, but he loves all the fishies and bright colors. We had birthday dinner because Jack had some more guests who wouldn't be arriving in time for lunch. We had blue raspberry kool-aid (more for the color, but Momma and DaDa liked the flavor too!), ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, scalloped potatoes, veggies and dip, fruit salad, and angel food cake with raspberries for dessert. Momma made a little angel food smash cake for Jack!

Smash cake. The frosting is cool whip and we took off the larger sprinkles before giving it to Jackson. I ordered the Nemo and Dory bath toys to put on his cake. Definitely better than trying to frost them on the top myself! Plus, more bath time fun for Jack later!

In the afternoon Jack had some visitors! Grammy and Papa! He was SO excited to see them! When they first walked in the door he was all smiles and he wasn't shy at all! He kept crawling back and forth between them on the couch. When Momma held out her hands to pick him up he turned away from her and went back to Grammy! He was so happy to see them again!

Jack has been practicing walking a lot. He showed off for Grammy and Papa. He had taken 3 steps at one time before but when he walked to Grammy he took 5 steps! What a big boy! We all were so impressed with him. He was definitely ready to quit being a baby and become Momma's big toddler!

Grammy and Papa with the Birthday Boy.

Our little family.

We opened a few presents Grammy brought with her and then decided it was time for dinner. Jack was starting to get tired because he skipped his normal naptime because he was so excited Grammy and Papa were here! He wasn't smiling when we were trying to take his picture so Momma made a scrunchy face at him- he mimicked it!

He had some ham and cheese and then we tried to give him his smash cake. He wasn't super interested in it and began to cry when we put his hand on it. So we cleaned him off and put him down for a nap. When he woke up he was ready for another try! He liked eating the cake but was not at all a fan of how sticky his hands were!

He kept pulling on each hand trying to get the sticky off. He then held out his hand to DaDa so DaDa could wipe some off. Try as we might (putting his hand in his cake, putting his face in his cake, pulling off a piece of cake) he just wouldn't smash it.

It was time to finish opening presents! Jackson received some wonderful presents. We are blessed to have very thoughtful friends and family in our lives. Jackson loved ripping open the wrapping paper. After the first few Momma helped unwrap to speed things up.

Jackson's favorite animal still appears to be a giraffe. When we read this book from Aunt Ruthie Jack was so excited for the tall giraffe! Jack also got the Little People books on the Zoo, Easter, and Noah's Ark. He got the Barnyard book for Christmas so you could say we're fans of Little People!

Jack got some super cute clothes and fun toys. One of Momma's favorites is his tunnel! Jack loved smiling through it to people, but wasn't brave enough to crawl through it on his own. Later Momma crawled in it and coaxed Jack to crawl towards her. He made it through the entire tunnel, but still won't go through it on his own yet. Thankfully, Momma can fit in it easily so we can play with it.

Momma and DaDa got Jack the Little People Noah's Ark set with the extra animal sets. Jack loved the animals from his Little People nativity at Christmas so we figured he would love these animals! I love Little People because the sets can mix and match and Jack will be able to play with them for a few more years. We also got him the Little People car set. He needed some cars like all boys. He knew just what to do with them too. Amazing how boys are hardwired to drive cars around and make "put put put"noises.

Jack always wants to play with Momma's laptop (which has fallen on the floor numerous times), so we got him his own! He loves the buttons and knows how to change the setting to Music, Letters, or Spanish. He will sit next to me on the couch and play with his laptop while Momma uses hers. This was excellent timing because Momma used up almost all of her data (of her so called unlimited plan) with two weeks to go in the billing cycle! So she needs to use her laptop for internet things instead of her phone as much as possible!

We played with all of Jack's new toys and wrapped up the day. Grammy and Papa stayed in town for a couple more days. Jack had a lovely birthday and I am so thankful my parents were able to celebrate with us. While Jack won't remember this birthday at all, it was fun to spoil him rotten. I mean, my eldest son will only turn one once, right?

Thank you everyone for your love and support through Jack's first year. It has been an incredible year and I am eternally thankful for my little boy. He has truly surpassed all of my highest expectations of children. I love being his Momma and cannot wait to see how he learns and grows in the next year.
